Card Giving

I mentioned that one of my 2014 goals is to stay in touch with family and friends far away.  So I decided to spend some time on and off during the day thinking about why I currently do not do a good job of staying in touch and then formulating a multi-step process for achieving my goal.

  • lists, always gotta have lists - with columns and colored pencils!
  • then type the lists into my Word program, gotta use the computer - with fancy colorful fonts and maybe images
  • then maybe tables in Excel to weigh the merits of my choices and explore my decisions
  • then probably lose the lists and get distracted by the next shiny bling or great new art product and then forget why I started the whole process, hmmmm.
I think I will make a conscious effort for the next week to write a note to a friend and time myself to see how long it really takes. Not all of my long distance people have email (unbelievable, I know - right?) but they all have home addresses, so I will concentrate on cards, envelopes, finding addresses (groan) and stamps (bigger groans) and time the process to see how I can make this a weekly activity.
